Safeguarding at Corbridge Middle School
At Corbridge Middle School, the safety and wellbeing of our pupils is our highest priority. We are committed to creating a caring, supportive, and secure environment where every child feels valued, respected, and protected.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and all staff, governors, and volunteers share a collective commitment to ensuring that our pupils are safe from harm. Our policies and procedures are designed to meet the statutory requirements set out by the Department for Education, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), and to promote a culture of vigilance and care throughout our school community.
We work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure that children receive the right help and support when they need it. If you ever have a concern about the safety or wellbeing of a child, please contact one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads.
if you would like to speak to someone or require further information please contact our key adults in school who are Mrs L Hamilton, Mr D Johnston, Mrs C Parkin, Mrs F Armstrong & Mrs A Watson.
What Is Operation Encompass?
Operation Encompass is a national initiative that helps to support children and young people who are affected by domestic abuse. It is a partnership between schools and the police, designed to ensure that when the police have attended an incident of domestic abuse where a child was present, exposed, or involved, the school is informed as soon as possible.
This early sharing of information enables schools to provide timely support to the child and their family. The information is shared in confidence and only with the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or a deputy. This means the school can offer appropriate care, understanding, and help to the child during what may be a difficult time.
At Corbridge Middle School, we are committed to working with Operation Encompass to ensure that every child feels safe, supported, and ready to learn.
What Is Operation Endeavour?
Operation Endeavour is a partnership initiative between schools, the police, and local authorities that aims to safeguard children and young people who are reported missing from home.
When a child or young person is reported missing, the police notify the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) as soon as possible once the child has been located. This early sharing of information helps schools to provide appropriate care, understanding, and support to the pupil on their return.
The initiative ensures that schools are aware of potential safeguarding concerns and can work closely with families and relevant agencies to promote the child’s safety and wellbeing. At Corbridge Middle School, we are proud to work with Operation Endeavour to help protect our pupils and ensure they feel safe, supported, and valued at all times.
