At Corbridge Middle School, we believe that a strong partnership between parents, carers, and the school is essential to effective careers education. To help young people reach their full potential and get the best possible start in life, it is important that parents and carers have access to accurate and valuable information. This supports young people in exploring different options and making informed decisions about their future.
Labour Market Information
We recognise that understanding Labour Market Information (LMI) is a crucial part of helping young people navigate the world of work. Having a clear picture of the various jobs and industries that make up our economy is like fitting together an important piece of the career planning puzzle. There are many reliable sources of information that provide insight into economic growth sectors, salary trends, and job opportunities.
While many of our pupils will contribute to the economy of the North East, it’s equally important for them to be aware of national and even international labour markets, as their future careers may take them far beyond our local region. That’s why we prioritise teaching pupils how to access and use LMI at different levels—local, regional, and national—to make well-informed decisions about their futures.
Corbridge Middle School is committed to working with partners, including Enterprise Advisors and regional organisations like the North East Combined Authority, which recognise the great potential of our area to drive economic growth. Our careers programme is thoughtfully designed to expose pupils from Year 5 through Year 8 to key industries and strategic sectors, helping to inspire and prepare them for future opportunities. Through this, we play an active role in supporting the development of skills and knowledge aligned with the evolving economic landscape.

Independent Careers Guidance
While we do not have an independent careers advisor based on site, we can arrange independent careers guidance for students in Year 7 or Year 8 upon request. If you believe your child would benefit from this service, please get in touch with us at school.
Destinations
The majority of pupils at Corbridge Middle School transition to Queen Elizabeth High School in Hexham for their next stage of education. However, a small number of students opt to attend other local high schools, choosing pathways that best suit their individual needs and preferences.
